경기북부 어린이박물관은 어린이들이 꾸는 아름다운 그 작은 꿈들이 모여 만들어내는 희망찬 미래를 상징하는 별을 닮았다. 또한 그곳은 어린이들이 즐겁게 뛰놀며 생각을 키우는 놀이동산이며, 소요산의 아름다운 자연속에 자리잡은 별들의 상상놀이터 경기북부어린이박물관은 보고, 만지고, 느낄 수 있는 새로운 개념의 박물관이 되고자 했다. 별들의 반짝임과 은하수를 펼친 듯한 율동성있는 입면 계획함으로서 소요산자락 밑으로 보이는 건물은 호기심을 자극하여 자연스러운 접근을 유도하였고, 또한, 매입형 LED조명을 활용한 다이나믹한 입면의 야간경관을 연출하여, 아이들의 상상력을 극대화 하고자 하였다. 자연스럽게 흐르는 동선을 따라 내부공간과 외부공간을 아우르는 다양한 전시 및 체험공간 구성이 가능하게 단면을 계획하였다.

The Children's Museum of Northern Gyeonggi Do Province is designed to look like a star, a star which symbolizes a hopeful future that can be created by combining together all of the beautiful dreams of small children. As it serves as an amusement park where children can play happily together and develop their own thoughts, the museum aims to establish a new kind of museum concept where children can see, touch, and feel everything whilst being within an imaginary playground of stars, surrounded by the beautiful natural landscape of nearby Soyo Mountain. As a rhythmic elevation was planned to emulate stars twinkling and the galaxy spreading outwards, a building seen at the foot of Soyo Mountain garners the ability to stimulates children’s curiosity while naturally inviting them to approach the museum. In addition, we tried to maximize the children’s imaginative power by having the effect of nighttime scenery amplified in dynamic elevation through the utilization of encased LED lights. The section was designed to easily enable the hosting of various exhibitions, while the composition of experiential spaces was designed to encompass both the internal and external spaces along the line of natural flow.
